computer doesn’t connect to internet when you change the provider

Published on February 8, 2012 in Solutions

Your computer doesn’t want to connect to the Internet. I suppose you dont have any problem with your computer, like some viruses, spyware, maleware or hardware issue. some times your computer get connected in your house but when in your mom, friend house you get trouble to get connected. if you try to fix the networking it may tell you windows cannot renew the IP Address or something similar about rewning IP Address.

for Solution you can try this

for windows XP, you must have SP2 and up

GO to START menu —–> GO Accessories —–>  click on command prompt

or just click on start —> click on run and type CMD and hit enter

both ways will take you to black screen named MS DOS command.

now in this black screen tape: netsh int ip reset catalog.txt

and hit ENTER  if no error message come up you are OK of course you will get  a message telling you that the command was executed correctlly.

after the first command now tape: netsh winsock reset

and hit ENTER

than you will be asked to restart your computer so commands will get effect. just restart your computer and everything should be OK if it’s only an IP renewing Issue. this problem happen most times as I notice when you change your computer from one provider to an other like from centurylink to comcast or maybe verizon to comcast. or due to some configuration issue.

for windows VISTA and 7 it’s the same command as before just you have to run the command propmt as administrator.

click on start —> All programs —> Accessories —>  right click on Command Prompt and choose RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
