installing XP after Vista is installed

if you are trying to install Windows XP over a windows vista machine or to add it as a second boot OS with vista you may get into a hard drive issue. your xp installation will not find the hard drive.
either during the installtion you will get a message about no hard drive find or your computer will go into a blue screen.

I suppose you know how to make a partition for your new installation.

SO, If you are planing to install windows XP over vista ( I’m not sure about windows 7 this article only for vista) the problem is easy. I know you may spend hours or days looking for a solution.

just go BIOS , depend on model computer find drives configuration desactivation the SATA auto configuration.
How to get into BIOS? Most time when your computer startup and before the windows OS start, hit F2 (some times you have to hit Esc or DEL)

Most time this problem happen with a SATA drive.
